The main body of research in our laboratories focuses on the development and applications of optical coherence tomography (OCT). There are several applications groups in the labs with varying interests.
Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (GI)
We have developed OCT probes that can be used in gastrointestinal endoscopy. Applications include computer aided diagnosis of Barret's esophagus and imaging of aberrant cryp foci.
Ophthalmic Imaging
Imaging the eye was one of the first biomedical applications of OCT. Our labs focus primarily on corneal biomechanics, OCT screening of donor corneas, Doppler OCT imaging in the retina, and multi-incidence angle imaging of the retina.
Cardiac Imaging
We use optical coherence tomography to image cardiac tissue. Applications include imaging infarcted tissue in the endocardium, monitoring radio frequency ablation with OCT and gated imaging of whole embryonic hearts.
